Squier by Fender Bullet Electric Guitar : I bought one of these for my girlfriend’s son for Xmas a couple years ago. After getting it home and doing a set-up on it, I was so blown away by what a great deal it is, that I’ve since bought two more Bullets for myself, a surf-green one and a cream-white one.
On some Bullets the fret ends can be a little sharp and need to be sanded or filed down. And all Bullets will need a set-up (adjust the truss rod, set the action, etc). But after that, for a little more than $100, you will have a very good guitar in your hands. If you don’t believe me, you can watch videos on youtube that I have posted of me playing stock, unmodified Bullets. Other people have posted videos as well. Just do a youtube search for Squier Bullet.

American Lawn Mower 1705-16 Reel Mower : Want to save the earth from unnecesary carbon? Want to save money on gas? Want to save yourself from reeking of gasoline every time you mow? I bought this at Menards and love it for my small city plot. It takes only slightly longer than a gas mower. Works great if you keep up and don’t let it get super long. Definitely get the sharpening kit and do that at least once every summer if not twice. If you don’t, mower gets harder and harder to push. If you keep up it’s not any harder to use than a gas mower – except doesn’t work quite as well on steep hills. No need to deal with bagging if you keep up – the short clips can be raked and bagged but it’ll also decompose pretty quickly.

Spirit Esprit EL-455 20-Inch Stride Elliptical : I had been using a Proform elliptical for a few years until it started to breakdown. It had a 18 inch stride and provided a good workout. After the Proform started to give me problems I knew it was time to start looking for a new machine. My first inclination was to go with a Schwinn since my parents had a Schwinn recumbent cycle and I had always thought it was a quality product. I read the reviews on the Schwinn 420,430, 431 and the new 460. I live near a Dicks sporting goods and went to see what they had to offer, although they had Schwinn recumbents on the floor, they didn’t have any Schwinn ellipticals to try.

Lucky Champ Litter Pan : I now have 2 of these litter boxes. I have 3 cats, 1 Rag Doll and 2 Bengals. The Rag Doll is a very large cat so I was worried about it being large enough and it is. The inside is very slippery texture so it stays clean looking and is easy to clean. The powdery dust that comes off litter makes the sides look dirty on my other litter boxes, but not Lucky Champ Litter Pan, it shines and looks clean all the time.

Mi Jam Pro Air Drummer : First, let me say that this is NOT a substitute for a real drum — it is also NOT made to hit on surfaces (it is really an air drum). It is unfair to judge it by saying “you can’t learn proper positioning of the drum” and compare it in this fashion to a real drum set. What this WILL do for you is teach you rhythm and coordination, and also help you see if you have a natural aptitude for drums.
Also, probably not the best toy for kids under 10. You have to have your basic coordination ready before trying this. So, again, unfair to say the toy doesn’t capture children, when it is actually not really a toy. It is not designed for children. Older kids and adults, however, would love it. For younger children, I would recommend starting with the Bop It toy, which is awesome teaching basic coordination, endurance and rhythm.

Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Baby’s First Blocks : My son loves to mouth and whack these blocks together. They make a great sound when thwacked together. I was worried about the plastic california thing til I realized that practically everything is known to the state of california to cause cancer. They are plastic after all, as are most of his toys. These were cheap and have great sound. The box is nice because it makes a lot of racket when he plays with the blocks against it. The lid does not stay on. I am not sure my son will ever use it as intended, but I guess I do not care. Maybe when he gets much older, but as it is, he loves to mouth the lid too. It is very interesting to him to hold and manipulate. And it has an embossed side that the block sound good rubbed against. If you are not looking for a good racket, maybe you should stay clear of it, but I like it for that since my son seems to love making the noises. The blocks are also easy to pick up, light and have lots of places to grab.
